Keeping Pharma Manufacturing Operating From Afar, Article Source: Manufacturing Chemist

Wendy Reddington, UK General Manager

Pharma manufacturing is set to see changes over the coming years as the landscape continues to evolve at an unprecedented rate. Industry 4.0 or Life Sciences 4.0 as its known in our industry, has driven much of this change, since having readily available data encourages operational efficiencies and unique insights.

With change, often comes challenges. Manufacturing IT appliances may fail to run at their optimum capacity, and if this happens, a fast resolution with minimal downtime is critical. This is particularly true for biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, where downtime may lead to expensive or even life-threatening batch failures. Many issues that occur can now be resolved off-site through remote access servers and on-the-ground operators can be guided through the repair processes without the need to deploy an engineer.
