What’s it like to work at Zenith Technologies in China? We ask Lu Jie, Senior Automation Engineer
Posted on October 5, 2017 by Luke Ward
Lu Jie has worked for Zenith Technologies just over 2 years as a Senior Automation Engineer based in China, Shanghai office. Working at a major pharmaceutical site, Lu is tasked with supporting equipment automation from the Commissioning and Qualification (C&Q) phase to the Performance Qualification (PQ) phase.
In this blog we interview Lu to get insight into what working for Zenith in the China region is like as well as what projects she has been recently involved with.
What are your current day-to-day activities?
As a contractor working for Zenith on site at a major pharmaceutical organisation for the last two years, I support Equipment Automation from the Commissioning and Qualification (C&Q) phase to the Performance Qualification (PQ) phase.
What does that entail?
During the C&Q phase, I complete automation testing for CPS (Component Processor System) equipment- from draft test cases to getting them approved by Quality Assurance, including; alarm testing, phase testing and batch testing. During the PQ phase, there is then the Clean Validation and Sterilization Validation (CV/SV) checks which qualify the performance of the equipment futher. My role is specifically built around automation support and troubleshooting for CPS and filler equiptment (Insulin filling machine) ensuring the equipment is safe and working as it should.
Whats it like working at Zenith in China?
Many of the engineers in China work on customer sites on different projects, so we are not normally based in an office environment. It is important that we are all within travelling distance to the site. Although we are not all working on the same projects and areas, the culture and work ethic at Zenith in China shines through, and our communication together is strong. To do this, we sometimes have a team lunch/dinner together to share information and discuss what we have learnt on projects.
Occassionally, the management will arrange team building exercises for the whole of the China region. This enables us to get to know people on other sites and allows us to share information, best practice and our key learning from the industry.
Are there any other exciting projects currently going on in China, or do you have a recent success story?
The large Insulin Filing project which I am a part of is one of the more exciting projects in China at the moment and I have been very proud to have been a part of it. The C&Q phase was a complete success and has now been passed over to the end user. The efficiency of the filling line is getting better and better – in the future, that the factory will go white early next year. This means that the filling line production environment will be as clean as the real production phase, ensuring the production area environment meets the Sterilization Assurance requirements.
In addition to this, Zenith China has two other exciting projects which are for large pharmaceutical companies throughout China. I believe the future of Zenith China will see a large amount of prosperous growth and many more exciting projects going forward.
What advice would you give to people thinking of applying for a role at Zenith?
Since joining Zenith, I have already recommended several ex-colleagues and friends to join Zenith, due to the growth of success and potential career development in China. Once you have the correct skills and knowledge, you can create a successful life-long career with Zenith.
